The Holy Spirit Sisters Society in the Opus Spiritus Sancti (OSS) is the Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical right among the five (5) communities which our founder Late Rev. Fr. Bernhard Bendel, a Germany priest started in the Church with the aim of forming a family which will unite together and witness Christ the Risen Lord, God’s incarnate love, to all people in the world, in all spheres of life, with the purpose of helping the Church in her work of renewal for a Spirit filled world, in order to make God be all in all. (1Kor.15:28)
Our Society then is the Missionary Community in which the life and activity of the early Christian life is the model of our life, as the Society follow the example of the Apostles in bearing Christ’s witness to the end of the earth (Act.1:8) through our missionary activities here in our country and to other countries in the world. Our Founder started the Institute here at our Regional House in 1967 which provides Theological Pastoral studies and Catechesis to Religious women and men from different congregations in East Africa and Central Africa (AMECEA Countries) for Pastoral Ministry in the Church and for Spiritual Formation of Religious life. Also the Institute offers Catechesis for lay people from different regions in Tanzania and Formees (Postulants and Aspirants) from different Religious congregations in Tanzania for the purpose of fostering the work of evangelization in the church.
The activities of an Extraordinary Month of October for the Church
In favor of Pastoral activities in the Church for the month of October, we all agreed to live a new life of witnessing Jesus Christ with great zeal in our daily prayers, sacrifices, as well as our works of spreading Good News, (Gospel) through our words and actions. We also decide to visit very often the small Christian Communities in the villages. To provide Spiritual Seminars to youths and married people besides the theological pastoral studies, which we are teaching at our Institute. We intend the Rosary Month of October, 2019 to be prayed for the missionary activities in the Church as we recognize the special presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary, praying constantly with us for the out pouring of the Holy Spirit to the world as she were with the Apostles. (Act. 1: 12 –14)
