Malawi: Holy Childhood animators called to renew they missionary commitment

In the quest of promoting the missionary mandate of the church in the country, the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) Malawi organized a three days national training for Holy Childhood animators to deepen their faith and ably teach children the church doctrine in the context of the Extraordinary Missionary Month October 2019.

The training that was taking place at Likuni Girls Secondary School in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe started with a recollection session by the National PMS Director Rev Fr. Vincent Mwakhwawa, who encouraged the animators the need to renew and recommence their missionary commitment of working and sharing their faith with children.

Fr. Mwakhwawa said “God shares with us his missionary work because he wants to share with us his glory, that is why Jesus Christ commanded us to go and preach the word to the whole world. Therefore, as the baptized children animators, you are being sent to go and share Catholic and human values and faith with the children.” Said Fr. Mwakhwawa.

The meeting discussed four dimensions the Holy father proposed to use as means to achieve the objectives of the celebration of the Extraordinary Missionary month October 2019. Preparation plans for the first National Missionary Congress for Children in Malawi, which the PMS National and diocesan offices have scheduled for the 12th-17th of August 2020 were also discussed. During this conference, 1500 children from all dioceses are expected to meet in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe and share talents like singing for Mission.

Other things scheduled for the conference include Catechetical Lessons on prayer: sacraments and living missionary charity through offerings, lessons on the environment: taking care of our home (Laudato Si) which includes waste management, tree planting and caring.

PMS therefore, appeals for support from parents by sending their children to this conference and resources to carter for food, transport and accommodation but also prayers from all people for this function to be a success.

The training is being attended by animators from all Catholic Arch/dioceses in the country each according to its needs.
