South Africa: St Daniel Comboni parish, Mahube Valley, Pretoria Archdiocese

The Parish of St Daniel Comboni in Mahube Valley in the Archdiocese of Pretoria introduced a MISSIONARY ASPECT to the CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION to celebrate EMMOCT2019. After the celebration of the Eucharist the Extraordinary Missionary Month was introduced and explained. The Gospel according to Matthew (28:16-20) was then read in various languages. Thereafter the Corpus Christi Procession began, this normally has 7 stages or stops along the route. At each of these stops a word or phrase from the same Gospel passage (Mt 28:16-20) was read by a child from the Masolenyana Children’s Group  (that is: “some worshipped Him but some doubted”, “I have all authority”, “go”, “make disciples”, “baptise”, “teach”, “I will be with you”). A reflexion about the word or phrase was then given, followed by a prayer relating to the topic and then the Blessing. When the procession reached the Church the 7 Children showed their word or phrase again and the same Gospel passage was read  – this was followed by the Final Blessing.
